Casey Gerdes discovered Svaroopa® yoga in 1996.  She has been studying and teaching ever since, becoming  a senior Svaroopa Yoga Teacher, a Teacher Trainer for Master Yoga Foundation, an advanced Svaroopa yoga therapist, Embodyment® therapist, and a meditation teacher.

She is a certified Svaroopa yoga teacher, certified Advanced Svaroopa Yoga Therapist, Yoga Alliance E-RYT500, and a member of San Diego Yoga Education Society. She has completed more than 2000 hours of Svaroopa Yoga teacher and therapist training. (click here for a complete list of certifications).

Casey teaches all levels of Svaroopa yoga, including beginning, deeper, yoga for pregnancy, gentle yoga, yoga for seniors, flow and bliss.

Casey is a skilled Svaroopa yoga therapist and particularly enjoys working one-on-one with clients. She works with clients of all levels ~ those looking for deeper spinal opening, clients who are healing from injuries, and those looking to improve specific conditions.

As a Teacher Trainer for Master Yoga Foundation for 8 years, Casey has taught hundreds of budding yoga teachers the intricacies of hatha yoga, anatomy, and yoga philosophy.

Casey brings energy, compassion, and humor to the classroom.  Her warm and detail-oriented approach encourages students to explore their own experience of Svaroopa yoga and to understand the changes they feel in themselves and see in others’ bodies.  Casey sees teaching as a valuable learning opportunity for herself, and she honors the learning process of each student.Photo of Casey Gerdes, Senior Svaroopa Yoga Teacher

In addition to her yoga training, Casey has trained in Seemorg Matrix clearing work and offers this as an option in relieving physical complaints by clearing underlying mental and emotional issues. Casey has also trained as a labor/birth support doula and has supported many mothers in bringing their new babies into the world.

Casey balances her professional yoga life with a part-time career as a financial manager and newly trained web designer at the University of California, San Diego.   She also shares her life and home with a loving partner, three dogs, and two talkative African grey parrots.
