Svaroopa Yoga benefits for your Mind

The 2nd sutra in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras is “Yogas chitta vrtti nirodhaha” – Yoga is the stilling of the mind.  This is, in fact, the purpose of yoga.  Yes, there are many, many (many!) physical benefits from practicing yoga.  And yet, that is not the goal of yoga, though often people use the physical tools to help their bodies, and there isn’t anything wrong with that.    But there is more to yoga than just the work with the body.

Practicing yoga will have an effect on your mind.

People describe this effect in many different ways, saying that they feel:

Everything in a Svaroopa class, workshop, or therapy session is designed to help not only your body, but also your mind. The two go hand in hand, and it's not that you need to do different things for the mind than for the body. The asanas (poses) have this affect automatically - it can seem amazing at first to notice the effect an open, more released spine has on your mind.
