Svaroopa Yoga Therapy, Embodyment, and Private Sessions with Casey

If you're looking for relief from pain, faster healing, greater relaxation, more peace of mind, and more ... a private Svaroopa Yoga Therapy or Embodyment session is for you!

Private sessions are custom-designed for each client, every time you come in. Therefore, each session can be the same, or different, as your needs, physical condition, and requests change. I treat each client as a team-member. We work together as a team, to determine what to do in a session, how to structure a series of sessions, and to decide what your next logical step is.

There are many different things we might choose to do in a session. Click on the links below to learn more:

Embodyment

An extraordinarily gentle, hands-on healing modality that can have amazing results. Suitable for almost everyone, you are fully clothed, and lie in a comfortable, supported position on your back (or other positions if needed due to injury or condition). The therapist places her hands on some of the tightest areas of your body, and through conscious application of the principles of yoga, healing, and release of tension occurs. This is a very powerful modality, but is appropriate for all levels of physical condition.

Svaroopa Yoga Therapy

Each yoga therapy session is custom-designed to your specific needs. Each therapy session will include release of spinal tension in a specific sequence, but is geared to address problem areas, aches and pains, areas of tension, etc. When you arrive for a session, we will discuss the session format and decide together what will be the best sequence for the session.

There are many, many yoga therapy techniques that range from special support to presses to more advanced techniques. At the foundation, in a yoga therapy session, I will assist you in getting into appropriate, well-supported yoga angles. You will likely stay in each pose longer than in a regular class.

As an example, a client with knee problems would have a different session than a client with neck and shoulder problems or migraines.

Or, some clients prefer a quieter, more restful session, in which case I'll choose lying down poses.

Private Svaroopa Yoga Class

Just like a regular class, except customized for your needs, with private, one-on-one instruction. Private classes can be arranged for 1 or 2 people. [contact me at casey@yogawithcasey.com if you would like to arrange a private class for a larger group]

This is a wonderful way for a family or a couple to spend some time together.

Many people prefer the privacy and attention inherent in a one-on-one class.

Develop a Personalized Home Practice

If you'd like to practice yoga at home, but don't know what to do, or have questions about alignments, schedule a session to develop a home practice. I will customize a practice for you, based on your condition and needs. In a session, we will practice the poses, I will give you pointers and reminders, and you will write the practice down so you will remember important points.

Reviewing your home practice occasionally can be very beneficial -- sometimes alignments are forgotten, or you simply need a different practice.

Breath Coaching

Breathing is one of the most underrated activities. None of us feels we need help breathing because, well, we've been doing it for a long time. But yoga has taught and emphasized breath practices for thousands of years.

The yogic breathing practice is one of the most important things you can do! For more about the importance of the breathing practice, click here.

Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT)

Most people have at least heard of the mind-body connection. Yoga is all about this connection.

Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) work is a technique used by select psychotherapists around the country and world. It has been also used by doctors, bodyworkers, and many other practitioners to help clear issues that are 'stuck' in your body.

I do not use this work with everyone, as the yoga, Embodyment, and Svaroopa Yoga Therapy takes care of most needs. However, occasionally a client either knows there is a stuck issue related to a physical or spiritual condition or, even after many sessions, the same issue continues to arise. In these cases, one or a few AIT sessions may be just what is needed to help clear an underlying issue in order for the body and mind to heal more quickly.

Note that I am not a psychotherapist. If you are in need of psychiatric assistance, please see an appropriately trained therapist.

Vichara

Vichara is defined as self-inquiry. An many of you already know, mental activity actually causes much of the physical tension in our bodies. When something happens that is stressful to us in some way, our reaction may become a holding area in our bodies. As the body opens and begins to release its tension, the associated mental tensions will also begin to release.

When mental patterns are strong, it may be difficult for the body to let go, no matter how much you 'work' on it. This web of mental tension can be difficult to see through.

Vichara is a process that allows you to look at the mental patterning and begin to unravel it directly. As the mental patterns let go, you feel lighter, more free, happier. And the physical tensions are able to let go as well.

Vichara can be done in 1/2 sessions or full 1-hour sessions.

Personal Coaching for Svaroopa Teachers

Personal coaching can take many different forms, and is often limited only by your imagination. If you're not sure about something, or if an idea you have might be possible, simply email me at casey@yogawithcasey.com. Also see teaching reviews below.

Some ideas of sessions teachers have scheduled include the following:

I bring to the session 12 years of teaching regular students, teachers in training, gentle students and clients and have helped many, many teachers improve their skills.

Svaroopa Yoga Teaching Reviews

I can also provide either a formal or informal teaching review.

A formal teaching review is one that Master Yoga has required you complete. For this, you coordinate with Master Yoga to schedule and make your payment. Once that is complete, they will contact me.

An informal teaching review is one you decide you would like for your own improvement as a teacher. You will receive a written report detailing lots of wonderful aspects of your teaching, as well as items I would recommend you review or practice further. In follow up to this, you may choose to have a private session to review specific poses and/or adjustments.

Prior to a teaching review, some teachers have scheduled a private session during which we review the specific alignments and adjustments. This can be particularly helpful prior to a formal review, whether I am completing the teaching review or another Senior Teacher will be completing the review.

Because the cost of a teaching review is dependent on many factors, including distance to your studio (for in-person reviews), whether you would like feedback in person, if you're providing a CD or video for review, etc. costs are not listed here. Email me of your interest and I will call you to discuss the best way to proceed and fees.
